In a rapidly
evolving world driven by technological advancements, aspiring entrepreneurs and
business-minded individuals must stay ahead of the curve. Recognizing this
need, Evolve Africa, with dedication to fostering innovation and
entrepreneurship, organized a comprehensive training program for students of
Federal Polytechnic Oko. Over five weeks, 17 motivated students embarked on a
transformative journey of learning, culminating in the selection of five
finalists who demonstrated exceptional skills in business planning, technology
and innovation, market knowledge, and presentation.
The training
commenced with an intensive session on the fundamentals of business planning.
The participants were introduced to the critical components of a business plan,
including market analysis, financial projections, marketing strategies, and
organizational structure. The instructors delved into practical examples and
case studies to ensure students grasped the intricate details of drafting a
compelling business proposal.
Evolve Africa’s
team of experts provided hands-on sessions, imparting practical knowledge on
leveraging technology to enhance productivity and drive innovation.
Recognizing the
significance of market knowledge in entrepreneurial success, the training was
also dedicated to developing a deep understanding of market dynamics. The
participants were engaged in various activities, including market research,
customer segmentation, and competitor analysis.
The penultimate
week of the training emphasized the art of delivering impactful presentations.
Engaging communication skills and the ability to effectively convey ideas are
crucial in winning over investors, partners, and customers. Participants were
taught various presentation techniques, including visual aids, storytelling,
and body language. Each student was given ample opportunities to practice and
receive constructive feedback, ensuring they developed the confidence and
finesse required to captivate an audience.
After weeks of
intensive training, observation, and assessments, the final week arrived,
bringing the selection of the top five participants who demonstrated
exceptional skills and growth throughout the program. These finalists showcased
an astute understanding of business planning, a strong command of using
technology for innovation, and a sound knowledge of market dynamics. Their
pitch presentations exemplified professionalism, creativity, and persuasive
communication.

(1st finalist)
Abudu Godsent
is the CEO of Abudulines Leathers, a leading shoe and belt crafting company.
Abudulines Leather is a business that deals with the crafting of high-quality
leather that has been in
business for
over 11 years. Abudulines Leather offers a wide variety of leather products for
both men and women. With the qualitative training that Godsent has received in
the past few weeks, he’s committed to not just using the finest materials and
craftsmanship
to create its products but also develop strategic plans or expansion and better
service offers to its existing and potential customer base.
Nworji Kelechi
Ogodo (2nd Finalist)
Nworji Kelechi
Ogodo is a student of Computer science and also the CEO of Pros-Found Computers
where she specializes in providing Training, design, and technical support to
students and residents of Oko and its environs.
With the
intensive training for 5 weeks, she has been able to note areas of improvement
that will help her upscale her business.

Chimuanya (3rd Finalist)
Umeobi
Chimuanya who is a graphics, interior, and Frame designer is also a student of
the Federal Polytechnic Oko. She’s a Dedicated, enthusiastic, and competent
designer with 1+ years of experience In creative solutions.
Dedicated
professional with proven performance management, and creative skills. Through
our 5 weeks of rigorous training, she has been able to perfect her
communication, and problem-solving Abilities, and also gained practical
knowledge that she can now apply to her Business.
Osuagwu Faith
Oluchi (4th Finalist)
Osuagwu Faith
Oluchi is also a student of Computer Science who noticed the market for
training and coaching students within the environs where she lives and ventured
into the Business of Coaching Center. She studied how some Jamb Exam Centres in
her state lacked so much equipment and materials necessary for students who
wanted to sit for Jamb Exams and decided to create an opportunity for herself.
From her
personal experience to that of others, she opened a well-equipped Jamb exam
Centre that will not only attract people from my town but also people from
different places. And with the extensive training from Evolve Africa, she’s on
the journey to discovering more ways to do her business better.
Ogwurumba
Ifeoma Assumpta (5th finalist)
Ogwurumba
Ifeoma Assumpta is a student of Computer science who has chosen to invest in
garri production. She got the inspiration to open an industry that will produce
garri using needed improved machines, and also improve the conditions of the
production. She hopes to be an exporter transporting my products to other
African countries and with the training experience she has gotten from Evolve
Africa, she has gained knowledge and insights on how to upscale. She also wants
her industry to produce snacks like garlic chips, and garri cakes among other
things.
The training organized by Evolve Africa proved to be a life-changing experience for the students of Federal Polytechnic Oko. The participants not only acquired essential skills but also fostered a mindset of innovation, adaptability, and resilience. Armed with a robust knowledge of business planning, technological advancements, market dynamics, and presentation skills, these students are now better equipped to overcome challenges and pave their way to entrepreneurial success.
